National Seminar on Corrosion, Failures & Mitigation
(NSCF- 2004)

It is widely accepted through out the world that loss of national economy due to corrosion is enormous which needs mitigation. Failures due to time dependent deterioration of properties of structural materials in contact with the corrosive environment are alarming to the developing countries including India. The present scenario calls for a common platform for presentation of research and development work in the form of a National Seminar at National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur. Following topics of national interest related to failures occurring due to corrosion phenomena will be discussed at length in the proposed seminar.

Failures due to corrosion occurring in
1. Petrochemical & Fertilizer plants, thermal power units, defence and aerospace units.
2. Constructional & structural units like building, bridges etc.
3. Water, oil & gas supply systems.
4. Railway & transport units.
5. Coatings & paint industries.
6. Petroleum production & supply units.
